Rubber molds – designed for the material

The same part in NBR or silicone may need a different mold. Each rubber has its own shrinkage, cure temperature and release behavior; ignoring them leads to wrong dimensions, sticking or excess flash.

Common materials

NBR for oil and fuel resistance (oil seals, hydraulic seals); EPDM for weather, water and steam (door and pipe gaskets); silicone for high heat and food or medical use; FKM for extreme heat and chemicals; natural rubber for elasticity and abrasion resistance (mounts and dampers).
